Appeal for Mast. Viraj Bharat Mhaske
Dear Supporters,
Today, we are reaching out to you on behalf of the Millennium Welfare Foundation with an urgent appeal for support. We are seeking your generosity and compassion to help save the life of a 3-year-old boy, Mast. Viraj Bharat Mhaske, who is fighting a life-threatening battle against Wilm’s Tumor, a rare form of kidney cancer. Viraj is currently undergoing treatment at KEM Hospital in Pune, and his family urgently needs financial assistance to continue his treatment.
The Urgent Need
Wilm’s Tumor, also known as nephroblastoma, is a rare kidney cancer that primarily affects children. It is one of the most common types of childhood cancer, typically diagnosed in children between the ages of 3 and 4. Despite the challenges, with early diagnosis and proper treatment, the survival rate for Wilm’s Tumor is relatively high. However, the treatment process is intensive and costly, often involving surgery, chemotherapy, and sometimes radiation therapy.
For little Viraj, the journey has been especially difficult. The total cost of his treatment is estimated to be around 450,000 INR, a sum that is beyond the financial reach of his family. His parents have exhausted all available resources and are now in desperate need of support to continue his treatment. This is where your generous contributions can make a life-saving difference.
The Growing Challenge of Childhood Cancer in India
Cancer in children, while rare compared to adult cancers, is a growing concern in India. According to estimates, approximately 50,000 children in India are diagnosed with cancer each year. While significant progress has been made in the field of pediatric oncology, challenges remain, particularly in terms of access to timely and affordable treatment.
In India, childhood cancers like Wilm’s Tumor often go undiagnosed or are diagnosed too late due to a lack of awareness and healthcare resources. Even when diagnosed, many families face insurmountable financial barriers to accessing the necessary treatments. The disparity in healthcare access contributes to lower survival rates in India compared to developed countries, where childhood cancers have much higher survival rates due to early detection and comprehensive care.
How Your Donation Can Make a Difference
Your generous contribution can provide Viraj with the treatment and support he needs to overcome this life-threatening illness. Here’s how your donation will be utilized:
- Medical Treatments: Your donation will help cover the costs of Viraj’s ongoing medical treatments, including surgery to remove the tumor, chemotherapy sessions, medications, and any necessary radiation therapy. These treatments are essential to controlling the spread of cancer and giving Viraj the best chance of recovery.
- Supportive Care: In addition to primary treatments, Viraj requires continuous supportive care to manage the side effects of chemotherapy and maintain his overall health. Your donation will provide access to essential medical supplies, nutritional support, and regular follow-up visits, ensuring that Viraj receives comprehensive care.
- Financial Assistance: The financial burden of cancer treatment is overwhelming for Viraj’s family. Your donation will offer significant financial relief, covering medical expenses, transportation to and from the hospital, and other associated costs, allowing the family to focus on his recovery without the added stress of financial hardship.
- Emotional and Psychological Support: Battling cancer is not just a physical struggle but also an emotional one. Your donation will support counseling services, support groups, and other resources to help Viraj and his family cope with the emotional challenges of his illness.
The Broader Impact of Your Support
By supporting Viraj, you are also contributing to the broader fight against childhood cancer in India. Your generosity helps raise awareness about the critical need for accessible and affordable cancer treatment for children and strengthens our capacity to support other families facing similar challenges. You are playing a vital role in improving survival rates and quality of life for children like Viraj across the country.
